What is Stainless Steel

Stainless steel also known as inox steel, is a steel alloy made with a minimum of 10.5 percent chromium. There are two commonly used stainless steel production formulas: austenitie, made with chromium and nickel, and ferritic made with chromium and carbon. 70% of stainless steel products produced today are made from mixture of chromium and nickel. Ferritic products are typically less expensive; however carry a higher risk of corrosion. Stainless steel in general does not corrode, rust, or stain with water drops. However using stainless steel under low oxygen, or high salinity, or a poor circulation environment can cause discoloring.
